Happy Thursday! Or maybe I should say Happy Thirsty Thursday! In need of a good drink for this evening? Then jump over to FTLOB and check out the easiest way to take a mini tropical holiday :) Also, I want to give a big thanks to all readers, new and old alike, that participated in the Hump Day Blog Hop yesterday. I got a chance to visit some great blogs and widen my bloggyland horizons!
First off, here is another little gem from Yahoo! News I found earlier this week. Seriously, I think I could have at least one feature a week from their ridiculous headlines. Ya'll remember this one, right!?
Well, according to Yahoo! News, Disney has started marketing to newborns. Yep, you read that right. Just hours after these tiny pups are delivered, representatives from Disney are visiting moms in maternity wards to share swag and collect information. Poor little ones, they really have no chance now. And honestly, like Disney needs to open up a new market?! What, their 8 bazillion dollar profit in 2010 wasn't enough? Yeah. Right.
I am just imagining the tag line for a new Disney Channel series...
"Hannah Montana: The Preemie Years. One minute she is on a stage singing her hits, and the next she is back in the incubator getting rid of her jaundice." Pure gold.

Secondly, I want to give a big shout out to Andreas Toepfer!!
Who?? You might ask. Well, he is the 2011 winner of the German Deer Calling Championship! Whoop! Haha
How could you NOT win with that horn?! (source) |
The 2011 Jadg und Hund (Hunter and Dog) Expo was held in Dortmund this past week. The Expo offers everything a hunter, or dog for that matter, could possibly need when out on the trail. And of course, it hosts the German Deer Calling Championship, which celebrates a centuries old hunting tradition.
Participants use a variety of different calling tools, such as ox horns, snail shells and plant stems. The vying eight men and one woman were asked to intimate deer calls that are heard during mating season.
I'd go see this band play (source) |
Andreas Toepfer was crowned champion after a panel of judges awarded him top scores in three deer-calling disciplines. Now, the top three deer callers from the German competition will go on to compete in the European deer calling championship in Slovenia.
Hmmmm, if this competition is anything like the darts world championship I mentioned a few days ago, I might be looking into a trip to Slovenia :)
I have a funny little post for MaƱana. It is apparently a special 'holiday', and I can't wait to explore the absurdness of it all. Have a great Thursday and hopefully see ya'll on Friday!
